Dr. Joseph Ganderson
Joseph Ganderson is a researcher and doctoral candidate in the Department of Social and Political Sciences at the European University Institute (EUI), Florence. His primary interest is the politics of banking and finance in Europe after the Global Financial Crisis, but his work more broadly examines how interactions between private and public actors shape tax and regulatory policy in European economies. Joe is also a team member on the EUI project ‘Lineages of the Tax State’, which seeks to map and analyse the historical evolution of taxation regimes around the world.
Joe holds a BA in International Relations and Politics from the University of Sheffield, an MA in International Political Economy from King’s College London and an MRes from the EUI. Between academic posts, he spent three years working at the London-Tokyo based EdTech firm, Quipper, where he helped establish the company’s operations on the ground in Southeast Asia and Latin America. He maintains a strong personal interest in digital innovation, corporate finance and competition policy.
